Divyaang Myithri comes up with another memorable and opportunities filled event in the remembrance of Late Mr.Anjinappa Jallige supported by Jallige family and this was the first-ever tournament in Karnataka which had 6 teams participating and the great note was that the participation of Indian wheelchair basketball players in the tournament.
The Republic cup organised for wheelchair basketball had 6 teams from Karnataka which witnessed many thrilling and close games. The tournament was a Round-robin scheduling where each team had to play 5 matches with 2 Quarters of 10 minutes each, Top two from the table would reach the finals.
As the league stage progressed there were some close games, but there was one team(Team Divyaang Myithri )which did not show any sign of pressure in their game's, played extraordinarily well winning all their five games of the league and raced away to the finals. The league match experienced a tie between Bajrangi boys and Bangalore Bulls with 2-2 and the knockout game played between Bangalore Bulls and Belagavi Shooters was a thriller of its own as the Belagavi Shooters won the game by just 1 point and registered their name in finals.
The Stage was set and the final clash was between Belagavi Shooters and Team Divyaang Myithri, the first 2 quarters went into the favour of Belagavi shooters as they scored 15 points and team Divyaang Myithri were trailing by 7 points and in the third quarter they made a strong comeback by scoring 4 points and the last quarter was taken away by the shooters and also the match as they reached 21 and team Divyaang Myithri had to settle at 14 points and lost the game by a close margin.
The winning team had won a whooping prize of Rs.15,000/-, To add on to this Mrs.Sowmya Reddy, MLA ,Jayanagar presented the winners with Rs.10,000/- and the runners up with Rs.5,000 and thanks to Pattabhiramanagar Sports Club for providing such amazing facilities and their students too getting involved in the smooth conduction of the event and also the crowd was very much engaged with the match till the end showing their support towards the game and the players were very happy with the hospitality and arrangements made by the organisers.
